What is a School/Classroom Project?

What is a classroom GrantWhen learning is fun, learning is easy. Hillsborough Education Foundation School/Classroom Project funding opportunities encourage educators to create innovative and exciting educational programs for their students. Teachers and school administrators can apply for project funding that benefits individual classrooms or their entire school. Projects fall under several categories: STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), Literacy, Arts, Career and Technical, Social Studies and  Agriculture. Examples of  some acceptable budget items for classroom projects include:

  • Art supplies: paint, mosaic tile, paper
  • Garden supplies: seeds, plants, soil
  • Literacy resources: books
  • Musical instruments: drums, sheet music
  • Technology equipment such as electronic readers, laptops, printer, projectors or white boards.

School/Classroom Project funding is available from $250 to $2,500 per project. Once the application is submittted, it's reviewed and ranked by three community members, Foundation staff or school district personnel. The Foundation makes the final selection by matching the project to applicable donor funds. Upon being awarded project funding, the recipients are required to agree to submit an impact report by the end of the school year.
