HEF President, Kim Jowell has released the following statement regarding Superintendent Jeff Eakins and the announcement that he will retire from his role at the end of next school year June 30, 2020:
"Although we are saddened to hear that Superintendent Eakins will be stepping down at the end of next year, we fully respect his decision to spend more time with his family. This is who Jeff is at his core; a person that cares deeply about those around him and puts others first. During the past four years, Jeff has taken this same approach in his role as Superintendent.
Thanks to his leadership, graduation rates have risen 10 points and the district’s financial status has improved greatly during his tenure.
We are truly grateful to Jeff for his leadership and the path he has set forth. We look forward to working with Superintendent Eakins, the school board and cabinet as the transition begins to find the next great leader for our district."
