Hillsborough County Public Schools is partnering with the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers in New York for the third year as a Regional Affiliate for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards to showcase the artistic talents of the students in Hillsborough County.
Established in 1923, the Awards are the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S. and the largest source of scholarships for young artists and writers. The Awards have an impressive roster of past winners, including Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, John Baldessari and Robert Redford.
HCPS students' work will be judged locally and recognized with an exhibition and awards reception March 10 at Blake High School. Category winners are submitted to the Alliance in NYC and receive an opportunity to move on to compete on a national level at Carnegie Hall. This is an exciting opportunity to support arts in our public schools and recognize the talent in HCPS both locally and at one of the most prestigious art & writing competitions in the country.
