At the Hillsborough Education Foundation our vision is that every student graduating from high school is ready for the next step towards a promising future with post-secondary education goals or work-force ready skills. Individuals and corporations in the community can help us achieve this vision by donating to our scholarship program.
1) Donate to the HEF Scholarship Program.
When you donate to the general scholarship fund, the Foundation will direct your gift to the scholarship program with the greatest level of need.

By supporting Hillsborough County Career Centers (Bowers-Whitley, D. W. Waters, Simmons or South County), you are helping to prepare those students not seeking college, but who graduate high school with work force ready skills. Your donations of $1,000 or more will provide financial assistance to a student in need of books, curriculum required equipment/supplies and certification expenses. Supporting CTE students is a perfect option if you want to assist career minded students in entering the Hillsborough County labor force immediately upon high school graduation. 3) Create a Junior & Senior Named Scholarship
Donors who wish to support college prepared HCPS students in 11th and 12th grades can create their own Junior & Senior Named College Scholarship. For a minimum donation of $10,000, a donor can start a scholarship fund and create an annual scholarship. The donor can designate the scholarship recipient’s eligibility requirements such income, gender, community involvement, educational interests, etc. Named Scholarship Donors are invited to attend the annual Scholarship Reception, where they can meet and interact with the scholarship recipient. This is a unique benefit of HEF scholarships that allows donors to see the immediate positive results of their donation.
4) Create a Take Stock in Children Scholarship
As one of the most impactful donor opportunities, two and four-year student scholarship plans are available with matching dollar-for-dollar funds from the Stanley Tate Florida Prepaid Foundation through the statewide Take Stock in Children program. So every dollar you give makes twice the impact. This scholarship is designed to help deserving at-risk students realize the dream of a college education.
Students in 6th-10th grades who are deemed promising candidates for the program are invited to become a Take Stock in Children Scholar. These students sign a pledge of commitment to stay in school, maintain good grades, and make positive life choices throughout the remainder of their high school education.
They are monitored throughout the academic school year by a Hillsborough Education Foundation College Success Coach and matched with an adult mentor to offer guidance and support to help them stay on the right track for higher education. Upon graduating high school the student will receive his or her scholarship to attend a college in Florida.
The cost of a Take Stock in Children Scholarship ranges from $5,280 to $15,400 depending on the duration (2 or 4 year) and type of college (community or state college or university). You may also create a Named Take Stock in Children Scholarship fund to honor your family, business or as a memorial.
