School Supplies & Resources

Empowering teachers equals student success.
We support our students and teachers by providing the tools they need to succeed.

Three out of five hillsborough county public schools students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.

We know it can be tough for families to afford school supplies when they are focused on finding funds to afford their next meal.

When students lack basic resources—such as notebooks, pencils, books and backpacks—it can limit their opportunities. Regardless of background or economic status, every student should have access to the resources they need to achieve personal and academic success.

That’s why we invest in teachers by providing needed supplies and extra support—enhancing teachers’ ability to help students reach their goals.

By supporting students and teachers, we are creating a strong workforce and sustainable prosperity for Tampa Bay.

Teacher Shopping in the Teaching Tools Resource Center

Teaching Tools Resource Center

At our Teaching Tools Resource Center, all full-time HCPS teachers can shop for core school supplies and other resources needed for their classrooms.

We know that our dedicated teachers will purchase supplies out of their own pockets before letting one of their students go without.

Because of the community’s support, our Teaching Tools Resource Center provided Hillsborough County teachers and students with more than $4.1 million in supplies last year.

Our resource center is located at Hillsborough Education Foundation: 2306 N. Howard Avenue in Tampa and is open throughout theschool year, July-May.

Qualifying teachers can shop twice per semester. Last school year, one shopping trip was worth an average of $418 in supplies—that’s an annual savings of nearly $1,700!

Our Teaching Tools Resource Center is managed and operated by Hillsborough Education Foundation and staffed by a group of volunteers who stock shelves, sort donations and more.

It could not operate as efficiently or effectively without our volunteers, who devoted 3,956 hours last year to ensure teachers have the supplies they—and students—need to succeed.
