General:
This is a Grant Match Program jointly administered by the Hillsborough Education Foundation and the Hillsborough County Public School District. The program matches 50 percent of funds by the applying school.
Grant Award:
A school is eligible to receive up to $25,000 per school year using the match program; 50 percent of the funding comes from the District/Foundation held funds and 50 percent from the school raised funds. The total amount available in 2008-2009 for schools is $500,000 (includes schools match).
Application:
A simple application is required to designate the intended uses of the funds in enhancing education through the integration of technology. Applications will be ranked based on demonstrated technology need, impact on instruction, goal and objectives of the project and evaluation plan for the project.
Requirements/limitations:
- Only one grant per school year.
- Matches are to be completed by March 2009 for purchase during current school calendar year.
- If the full match is not met, the donation level reached will be matched.
- Funding of the match cannot be from federal or state funds allocated to schools. The intended sources are PTAs, school fundraisers, businesses, individual donors, etc.
- Hardware and software must conform to the District’s Technology Governance Policy 8.36
- To be eligible to receive future funding, the School must complete an evaluation form and return it to the Foundation in May 2009.
Procedures:
- Principal of school determines that the school wishes to participate in the Technology Matching Funds program.
- Application is completed online at http://www.educationfoundation.com/ starting September 2, 2008.
- Deadline for application submission is October 6, 2008.
- Applications are ranked using a point rating for technology need, impact on instruction, goals, objectives and evaluation plan.
- Schools are notified of the award in November 2008.
- After the grant is awarded, the school will send in their match donations to the Foundation along with an Affidavit of Sources form. When the target amount is reached, the funds are distributed by the Foundation to the school for designated purposes and purchase; or the Foundation notifies the District to release the other 50 percent to the school for purchases.
- In May, the school must complete an evaluation form and return it to the Foundation, to be eligible to receive future funding.
