Sponsor Consortium of Florida Education Foundations

Type:

School Excellence/Group Grant

Maximum Award

$2,500 (to be matched by school-defined sources)

Eligibility Requirements

  • Principals and administrators of a school site

About:

Principals are constantly challenged to find ways to improve various aspects of their schools - academic achievement, community support, parental involvement, student attendance and civility in the school environment, etc. As with challenges in any organization, the solution is not one simple action, but typically a matrix of efforts. This grant is designed to support such efforts. It is a matching grant, which requires the school to raise an equal amount in new funding from external sources by the end of February 2007. Once it is received by the Foundation, that money will be matched and the total amount released to the school. In your grant application, make sure you:

  1. Clearly define the issue to be addressed.
  2. Describe what "success" is in resolving the issue, and mention how you involved teachers, parents, and students (if appropriate) in defining the desired outcome.
  3. Show the link between what the money will be used for and reaching that outcome.
  4. Explain the measurement system used to determine progress towards the desired outcome.
  5. Include expenditures for entire amount of the project (total amount, not just the matched portion) when you complete the budget page of the application.

This is a competitive grant, and applications will judged on certain criteria: judges will be looking for creative solutions, well thought-out and planned activities, projects that impact as many students as practical, and planning and/or activities that involve all stakeholders.
