The Hillsborough Education Foundation has been successful due to the tremendous support of the Foundation’s programs within the community. With the help of many supporters, the Foundation raises funds for programs that cannot be funded with tax dollars. However, each year, we have unfunded classroom grants and scholarship applicants with genuine needs which cannot be fulfilled at the current levels of support.

Your Support is crucial to our success. With additional resources, we can have an even greater impact in Hillsborough County.

How You Can Help

Volunteer
The Foundation maintains a busy schedule of events and activities throughout the year and is always in need of volunteers to assist. We would be grateful for your help on an occasional or regular basis.

Volunteers are needed to help with tasks including:

Help at the Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools Store
Recognition or Fundraising Events
Mentoring a scholarship recipient
Tutoring a young struggling reader
Join a workgroup or committee

Office Volunteers are needed to help with tasks including:

Mailers (copying, stuffing, stamping)
Filing
Data entry
Reception duties
Graphic Design & Desktop publishing
Bookkeeping or assisting in accounting office

Cash: Undesignated funds are always needed for day-to-day operations and for support of our main focus areas
Pledge: A pledged gift offers donors an opportunity to support the Foundation by making payments by month, quarter or year (s)

Mentors encourage students to be successful in school. Having a relationship with a positive adult role model helps students succeed, achieve, and graduate from high school.
As a mentor, you can provide a role model for students who have a scholarship for college, but may not have a family member who has attended college to help them.

When you have decided to make that serious commitment to work with a Take Stock student, you will complete a Mentor Application. After your application has been reviewed and your background check completed, you will then be matched with a student who will benefit from you guidance and the caring relationship formed.

Each workgroup is tasked with helping to raise funds/volunteers/support for the respective programs. The Hillsborough Education Foundation is always looking for good members.

Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools
Teaching Tools for Hillsborough Schools’ mission is to ensure that children in Hillsborough County have the basic tools for learning by providing at no cost, the community’s surplus supplies and merchandise and placing them in the hands of teachers and students.

Each dollar you donate to Teaching Tools, a program of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, 91% of every dollar goes back into the program.

Presidents as Principals
Presidents as Principals was first introduced in Hillsborough County in 1996 to help increase awareness of issues that school administrators confront on a daily basis. One of the key goals of the program is to strengthen the bond between our community and our schools. With this relationship in place, a forum is provided for our principals to utilize the experience and expertise of our community business leaders.
