The Batson-Cook charity Golf Classic is the Hillsborough Education Foundation’s original fundraiser to support our efforts in providing programs to benefit Hillsborough County Public Schools. Growing consistently over the years, the Batson-Cook Golf Classic has earned the reputation of being a premier event. MaryEllen Elia, Superintendent of Schools is the honorary chair of this tournament.
The Foundation has established a relationship with Avila Golf and Country Club, one of the Tampa Bay area’s most prestigious golf courses, to host the tournament. Sponsor dollars help support programs for students and teachers in the more than 200 Hillsborough County public schools. Long-standing partnerships with recognizable beverage and food vendors are established for the tournament breakfast, awards luncheon and tournament beverages.
Using a captain’s choice format limited to 120 players, there are also contests for longest drive, closest to the pin, putting, and other fun activities. Annually, the Batson-Cook Golf Classic has full participation with a consistent number of golfers. This tournament provides a great opportunity to meet and network with some of Tampa Bay’s premier business people, while raising money for a worthy cause.
