Morganti-Wilder Hooked on Education Fishing Tournament
April 23 & 24, 2009
Captain's Dinner on April 23rd at Westshore Yacht Club
Fishing Tournament on April 24th at Westshore Yacht Club

The Hooked on Education fishing tournament was the brainchild of Jim Inman and Larry Wilder, founders and organizers of this charitable event.  These remarkable men put together a committee and organized this ‘catch and release’ tournament to help raise proceeds to benefit the Hillsborough Education Foundation. They realize the need to support the Foundation’s mission to help the students, teachers and schools of Hillsborough County Public Schools achieve academic excellence through our programs.

Their efforts lead to a sell-out tournament and raised more than $129,000 this year.  The event’s fun activities include a Captain’s Dinner for all participants, sponsors and boat captains with an open invitation to the Superintendent of Schools and School Board members to come enjoy the fun.

With an early morning start, all of the fishermen receive a ‘goodie bag’ filled with items to help them enjoy their fishing experience, along with a tournament shirt.  Food and refreshments throughout the day are provided by sponsors such as: Beef O’Brady’s Family Sports Pubs, Caspers Company McDonald’s Restaurants, Pepin Distributing and Pepsi Bottling Group.  The tournament concludes with an awards ceremony and a wonderful catered dinner.
