We are now accepting Classroom Grant applications
for the 2014/15 school year.

Hillsborough County Public School teachers and administrators, grades K-12, are eligible to apply. Please review the following guidelines before submitting your application.

  •  Applicants may apply for funds for classroom and school support.  Proposed grants should address the following categories: STEM (science/technology/engineering/math), Arts (visual/dance/theater/music), Literacy (reading/writing), Social Studies (geography/history/language), Agriculture, Technology Equipment or other school needs.
  • Applicants must complete an online application to be considered.
  •  In addition to educators and administrators, school-based groups such as the PTA may apply but are encouraged to collaborate with their School Advisory Council.
  •  The Project Administrator listed on the grant application is responsible for implementing the grant at the school.  The grantees are the principals, teachers and/or classrooms affected by the project.  Notification and other correspondence will only be directed to the Project Administrator and school principal.
  •  All funded grants are required to complete a Project Impact Report, student thank you cards/letters and photos upon completion of the project.  Grant guidelines will be provided in the acceptance email.
  •  Classroom grants that include requests for technology equipment must budget and purchase items through the approved school district’s vendors such as UDT.
  •  For anonymity during the review process, do not reference your school name in the body of your application.

  • A review committee comprised of community members and professional educators will review and evaluate grant proposals and make recommendations.
  • Final selection is determined by the Hillsborough Education Foundation.
  • Priority will be given to the most innovative, enriching ideas and to those that maximize the purpose of the individual grant programs to promote students’ academic success.
  • Awarded grants will be notified by email and listed on the Hillsborough Education Foundation website.
  • Grant applicants that are not awarded will be notified by email and may still be eligible for re-submission in a future grant application period.

  • Classroom Grants funds are transferred to the HCPS Budget office.  The Budget office will send a letter to the school bookkeeper indicating the appropriate account allocations. Please contact the HCPS Budget office at (813) 272-4063 for questions related to project funding.
  • Please allow up to four weeks for your funds to be available at your school.
  • If the approved project funding amount changes, a budget amendment form will be required (included in the acceptance packet) and must be approved prior to additional expenditures.
  • Funding amounts for Classroom grants typically range from $500 - $2,500. Projects can be partially funded.
