Credit Card Security Code Locations

The Card ID or VIN number is a security feature placed on the credit card in order to prevent fraud. The location of this code differs by credit card. Here are some examples:

On the American Express Card, the code is four digits
on the front of the card ABOVE the card number.

On Visa and Mastercard, the code is three digits
on the back of the card, within the signature block,
just following the card number.
