The Play FORE Education Charity Golf Classic is the Hillsborough Education Foundation's original fundraiser to support our efforts in providing programs to benefit Hillsborough County Public Schools. Growing consistently over the years, the Golf Classic has earned the reputation of being a premier event. MaryEllen Elia, Superintendent of Schools, is the honorary chair of this tournament.
The Hillsborough Education Foundation has established a relationship with the Avila Golf and Country Club, one of the Tampa Bay area's most prestigious golf courses, to host the tournament. Sponsor dollars help support programs for students and teachers in Hillsborough County Public Schools. Long-standing partnerships with recognizable beverage and food vendors are established for the tournament lunch, awards dinner and tournament beverages.
Using a captain's choice format limited to 120 players, there are also contests for longest drive, closest to the pin, putting, and other fun activities. Annually, Play FORE Education has full participation with a consistent number of golfers. This tournament provides a great opportunity to meet and network with some of Tampa Bay's premier business people, while raising money for a worthy cause.

Putting Pro 9-Hole Shootout – 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Putting Pro Contest takes place prior to the regular tournament at the Avila practice putting green.
All participants will have the opportunity to pair up with a Hillsborough County Public School Key Executives while competing with each other for the 2012 Putting Pro Award.
How it Works?
- All players putt a 9-Hole putting contest on the Avila practice putting green.
- The player with the lowest score will be crowned the “2012 Putting Pro.”
Who can Play?
- 1 player from the Hole-in-One & Birdie sponsor teams will be entered in the contest.
- Any tournament player that buys a shootout ticket for a $250 donation.
Why Play?
- Opportunity to network with Hillsborough County School executives.
